“Nobody” is an assemblage of photographs, modified images, and excerpts of texts by Donald Rumsfeld, Walter Benjamin, President Jimmy Carter, myself, and my father, among others. It posits the banal against the epic through fragments from personal experiences and those of other authorities. The vernacular of presidential addresses, letters about stealing cars, remembering arrests, and contemplating political action are assimilated into one multi-authored story. The subsequent collage is a not a resolved narrative, but rather a methodological approach to locating instances of both intimacy and alienation when embedding the private into larger public dialogues.
